Valley Christian Junior High
In our academically challenging yet nurturing environment, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders emerge as true students who learn through a comprehensive approach to all subjects. The solid academic foundation at VCJH is grounded in the core subjects of Bible, English, math, physical education, science, and history. Eight different honors courses are available, and this strength of schedule is coupled with a wide-ranging selection of exciting electives. Given the variety of academic options, VCJH students are able to pursue knowledge at a level that meets their specific needs. Emphasis is placed on developing effective study skills and discipline for more advanced academic work. Additionally, co-curricular programs through the Conservatory of the Arts and AMSE (the Applied Math, Science, and Engineering Institute) enrich students’ God-given talents with extraordinary opportunities, preparing them for the rigorous college preparatory program at Valley Christian High School.

We are blessed to be able to provide our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders with amazing, state-of-the-art facilities and an incredible breadth of opportunities that help them discover and nurture their God-given passions and abilities! Our core academic subjects are available at a variety of levels, ranging from average grade level to honors and advanced honors. In addition, the variety of exciting elective and extracurricular offerings available through AMSE, the Junior Conservatory, Athletics, and our Communications department are astounding!
While the VCS Quest for Excellence™ is evident in the stellar programs we offer at VCJH, the true value of our school is in the amazing faculty and staff who translate these incredible resources into a safe, nurturing environment as these students transition from elementary school and prepare for high school. With a firm foundation in Christian values, we strive to create a community that challenges our students to aspire toward lives of character, service, and influence as they pursue their individual Quests for Excellence. We are honored to partner with parents in the education, growth, and development of the young people who attend VCJH during this exciting and pivotal time in their lives.
May God grant you wisdom as you seek the school that would best meet the needs of your young person. Please feel free to contact our office if you have any questions or would like to visit our campus. We would love the opportunity to meet you and your student. Our Junior Conservatory offers young artists the opportunity to further develop their God-given talents, with a full range of visual and performing arts classes in visual arts, dance arts, music, and theatre arts. In a program of unmatched quality and breadth of offerings, the Junior Conservatory provides the necessary preparation for matriculation to the High School Conservatory of the Arts.
VCJH participates at the highest level of competition in Santa Clara County. Offering a balanced program consisting of 22 teams competing in 11 different sports, our commitment is to hire coaches who model Christian values both on and off the athletic field and prepare our emerging student-athletes to be leaders in the community.
FAITH & COMMUNITY
David and Edie Wallace founded VCS around the mission that the school would honor God by providing an education grounded in the Judeo-Christian values of the Bible as reflected in the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. While our school is known for high quality programs and one-of-a-kind opportunities, we also place an extremely high value on introducing and fostering personal relationships with Christ, as this relationship makes a difference for eternity. We seek to nurture the spiritual growth of our students and faculty through cross-curricular biblical integration, required Bible courses, weekly chapels, biannual spiritual emphasis weeks, on-campus Bible studies, and opportunities to serve together within the school and in our local community.
|"When searching for a school, we looked for one that would grow our child spiritually and academically, as well as provide opportunities in the arts and athletics. I'm happy to say that Naomi has grown in all of those areas in her junior high years. Academically, she has been challenged in her honors classes and in Math Club. Spiritually, she has grown in her faith and is now bolder in sharing her faith with others. Her musical abilities have also grown so much, starting in Advanced Band in 6th grade, and advancing to 1st chair flute in Quest Band in 8th grade. She now plans to join the Wind Ensemble in high school. In athletics, she has improved her soccer and running skills by participating on sports teams. She had no experience in track prior to Valley. While at Valley, she was able to place in several events, advancing to the finals, and was very excited to help the girls soccer team win the championship! Finally, she made more friends, and improved her confidence and social skills."|
MEET THE FACULTY
While the VCS Quest for Excellence™ is evident in the stellar programs we offer at VCJH, the true value of our National Blue Ribbon school is in the amazing faculty and staff who translate incredible resources into a safe, nurturing environment for our students during this exciting and pivotal time in their lives. VCJH’s 21st Century teachers are true innovators who exhibit creative thinking and implement strategic initiatives. They are challenged to dream, innovate, and implement pioneering programs in their classrooms. Over 40% of VCJH educators hold master’s degrees or PhDs, and all of our teachers practice cutting edge, research-proven teaching methods. Their ability to promote students’ problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills brought us recent recognition as Intel’s School of Distinction – Star Innovator Award in 2011.
VCJH teachers recognize the unique privilege they have in investing in the spiritual growth of our students, and integrate a biblical perspective into the subject matter they teach. They also also serve as Prayer Warriors, praying for a specific group of students by name throughout the year. Our caring, professional, dedicated teachers are honored to guide VCJH students as they reach toward their fullest potential and God-given purpose.
