#38 - Refreshing Water
August will mark the beginning of another football season for me----and it is always hot. The kids return to wind-sprints, uncomfortable uniforms and sweaty bodies. Be assured, we give the players lots of water breaks to replace the lost fluids. Recently, during a strength and conditioning class, something struck me as meaningful. Toward the end of the session the team was given another water break. The guys raced for the large containers for a drink.

Hughes Named EA Sports All-American
A finalist for Mr. Baseball State Player of the Year in California, Hughes led his team to a second straight CIF Central Coast Section Div. I title. As a hitter, he batted .432 with 10 doubles, one homer and 35 RBI. As a pitcher, he went 14-1 with a 0.82 ERA. (more)

Hughes Receives NCP Player of the Year
The Santa-Clara bound Hughes was considered one of the top players in Northern California heading into the season and he didn't disappoint. He went 14-1 with a 0.82 ERA to go with his .432 average. Among his other post-season awards include the San Francisco Chronicle's Metro Player of the Year and the co-MVP of the WCAL. (more)

Diatte Receives NCP Overall Baseball Coach of the Year
Valley Christian was considered one of the top programs in Northern California heading into the season and they didn't disappoint. Though they lost the No. 1 spot this season, they finished 30-6, won the section title and ended the season as the No. 1 team in the region. (more) |

Marshall Among Recruits to Camp at ASU
San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian two-sport star Cameron Marshall is an in demand multi-purpose running back who is being seriously recruited by Arizona State and will visit the school's campus for the first time this Sunday for it's Maroon and Gold One Day Camp. (more)
